Mercer County Crime Statistics

In 2016, Mercer County recorded a total of 8,114 crimes. This figure represents an 18.1% decline in the overall crime rate between 2012 and 2016. A closer look at the 2016 crime statistics for the county shows that there were 26 murders, 107 rapes, 587 robberies, and 775 aggravated assaults. Reported incidences of property crimes include 1,592 burglaries, 4,486 larceny-thefts, and 541 motor vehicle thefts. The five-year crime trend for Mercer County reveals that the murder rate remains the same in 2012 and 2016. However, reported cases of rape grew by 114%, partly due to the expanded definition of the crime. In the same period, the county recorded fewer robberies (23%), aggravated assaults (5.7%), burglaries (34.6%), larceny-thefts (12.1%), and arson (24.4%).
