Camden County Crime Numbers
The New Jersey State Police provides an annual Uniform Crime Report detailing crime incidences and trends in all the counties and cities of the state. Its 2016 report shows that there were 57 murders, 149 rapes, 726 robberies, and 1,427 aggravated assaults in Camden County. In the same year, incidences of property crimes include 2,591 burglaries, 8,823 larceny thefts, and 928 motor vehicle thefts.
Compared to 2012 figures, the five-year crime trend in Camden County indicates that rape was the only crime with higher incidences. Rape rate grew by 33%, a hike that was partly due to the law enforcement agencies expanding the definition of the crime. Murder, robbery, and aggravated assault rates dipped by 19.7%, 38.6%, and 19.4% respectively between 2012 and 2016. In the same period, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft rates declined by 34.9%, 22.1%, and 33.3% respectively.
Camden County Criminal Records
There are three law enforcement agencies in Camden County. These are the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, the Camden County Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police.
The State Police is responsible for providing criminal history records. It offers these records along with its fingerprinting service. Download, print, and complete a Universal Fingerprint Form A. Get the Universal Fingerprint Form B to get notarized criminal records. Schedule an appointment with IDEMIA, the third-party agency that provides live scan fingerprinting services. Do this online on the website www.bioapplicant.com/nj. Alternatively, call the toll-free line, (877) 503-5981 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday. You can also make an appointment by telephone on Saturday when you call between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon. Bring the completed form to the appointment. The New Jersey State Police charges $40.66 plus $10 vendor fee and state tax for this service.

The New Jersey State Police is responsible for maintaining the state’s sex offender registry. This registry contains information about Tier 3 (most like to re-offend) and some Tier 2 (moderate risk) registered sex offenders. By law, it makes this registry publicly available online. Search the New Jersey Sex Offender Registry for offenders living in Camden County by zip codes, street addresses, and cities in the county. You can also do a name search to find individual sex offenders.
The Camden County Correctional Facility is the main adult detention center in the county. This county jail is located at 330 Federal Street, Camden. New Jersey Courts provides electronic access to the records of Superior and Municipal Courts all over the state via its Electronic Access Program (EAP). However, this is a subscription service that requires users to log in and pay for access by the minute. For public limited access to court records, visit the Public/Media page and follow the links under the Find a Case section.
It is also possible to request for copies of Camden County Court Records in person. To obtain copies of cases tried at the Camden County Superior Court, visit the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court on the Sixth Floor and North Wing of the R.J. Hughes Justice Complex, 25 W. Market Street, Trenton, NJ. The office opens from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. ad 4:30 p.m.
Members of the public can request for copies of Camden County Municipal Court records by visiting the courthouses where involved cases were tried.
New Jersey Judiciary System also makes provisions to request copies of civil, criminal, family, and municipal court recordsby email. Download and complete a Records Request Form and send it to SCCO.Mailbox@njcourts.gov. Available records can be delivered by email, regular mail, fax, and pick-up.
The fees for plain copies of court records are 5 cents per page for letter size pages and 7 cents per page for legal size pages. Each copy bearing a seal of the court costs $10. Each certified copy has a charge of $15 while an exemplified copy is $50 plus copy fees. A triple exemplified copy is $60.
Only pay in cash when picking up copies in person. For other delivery methods, checks and money orders are the acceptable forms of payment. Make the checks and money orders payable to Treasurer – State of New Jersey.
Camden County Vital Records
The Family Division of the Camden County Superior Court hears and files all divorce cases in the county. Records of closed divorce cases are stored in a warehouse in Trenton under the care of the Superior Court’s Clerk Office. Call the Customer Service Unit of the Clerk’s Office at (609) 421-6100 to find the docket number for the divorce case. Use the information provided to complete a Records Request Form and email it to SCCO.Mailbox@njcourts.gov. Select an option to have copies of the divorce record delivered by fax, email, regular mail, or pick-up. The Clerk charges $35 for each certified copy of final judgement of divorce. Pay with a check or money order payable to Treasurer – State of New Jersey.
The Office of Vital Statistics and Registry of the New Jersey Department of Health issues certified copies of birth, death, marriage, civil union, and domestic partnership records. Its birth, death, and marriage records cover the last 100 years while its domestic partnership records date back to 2004 and civil union records are from 2007 to the present. Members of the public can order these records by using the Vital Records Online Service.
The Office of Vital Statistics charges $25 for the first copy of a vital record certificate and $2 for each additional copy of the same record. There is an additional $5 processing fee as well as a non-refundable $5 identity verification fee. All fees are payable with credit card.
