What Are Bergen County Arrest Records?

Bergen County arrest records provide official summaries of apprehensions or the frequency of arrests made in the county within a specific period. Information contained within these documents includes arrest rate data, arresting officer/agency details, and basic descriptive information like age, gender, names, and so on. Bergen County Arrest records are in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office who also forwards the information to the New Jersey State Police at the state level. Crime Statistics

The annual Uniform Crime Report from New Jersey State Police provides crime data for Bergen County. This report reveals that the county recorded a total of 9,930 offenses in 2016. This figure represents a 1% jump in the crime rate compared to the previous year. A closer look at the 2016 crime statistics for Bergen County shows that there were 12 murders, 79 rapes, 209 robberies, and 446 aggravated assaults. Property crimes reported in the same year include 1,454 burglaries, 7,200 larceny-thefts, and 474 motor vehicle thefts. Compared to crime figures for 2015, murder and rape rates dipped by 17% and 19%, respectively, while robbery and assault rates rose by 25% and 5%, respectively. The year-on-year crime trend for Bergen County also indicates that the burglary rate shrank by 23% while the larceny-theft rate grew by five percent, and there were seven percent fewer motor vehicle thefts.

In 2016, local law enforcement agencies arrested seven people for murder in Bergen County. There were also 24 rape arrestees, while 173 and 408 individuals were booked for robbery and aggravated assault, respectively. The 2016 arrest figure for burglary was 364. The Sheriff brought in 31 people for motor vehicle theft and 2,129 for larceny-theft.

Individuals can get criminal history records information (CHRI) on self from the New Jersey State Police, along with a few other authorized agencies like private detectives, attorneys, etcetera. Eligible parties can request for these records online or by conducting name or fingerprint checks on the NJSP database through the approved Idemia live-scan sites. Individuals can also find case files or conviction information from the New Jersey Courts portal.

How to Find Bergen County Sex Offender Information?

New Jersey law empowers the State Police to gather information about sex offenders living in the state and make the information available to the public. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 2C: 7 – 12 and 19 of the New Jersey Code, the State Police makes the New Jersey Sex Offender Registry available online. Search this database for sex offenders by name, email address, and zip code. Use it to find sex offenders living in different parts of Bergen County by searching with street addresses. The search tool also provides ways of searching for non-compliant and incarcerated offenders.

The Corrections Division of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for maintaining inmates and jail records for the county. In addition to the various rehabilitative programs it runs at the County Jail, this office also provides inmate information such as visitation rules, visiting hours, and bail information. Its Inmate Lookup Tool is a handy resource for locating incarcerated individuals by name or booking number.

What Are Bergen County Court Records?

Bergen County court records refer to certified or non-certified documents of operations and proceedings of courts within the county. Unless under court seal, these records are mostly public and include information on the various criminal, probate, civil, traffic, family law cases that happened in the court.
